DAY 10 of 12
Beyond, rapid-fire
The next rungs — one concept each, so you know what's next
You can do… by end of day
- Explain CDN / edge caching and set basic cache headers.
- Describe k8s as “declare a desired state, let it stay true.”
- Sketch a CI/CD pipeline that builds, tests and deploys on every push.
- Use object storage (S3/MinIO) for files and explain message queues for decoupling.
Deliverable
A working mental model of the next five rungs + one real config (pipeline or deployment) you can read.
Big-picture hook
You don't need all of this today — but you know exactly what's next. Tomorrow we pick the shape of your capstone.
Concepts what you'll understand
- CDN / edge: cache your content close to every user; cache-control headers that make it work.
- Kubernetes: the orchestrator — you declare the desired state, it keeps it true (pods, deployments).
- CI/CD: build → test → deploy on every push; the automated pipeline.
- Object storage: files as objects in a bucket (S3/MinIO) for uploads, media, backups.
- Message queues: the rubber coupling — jobs, retries and traffic spikes, decoupled from the request.
The lab hands-on, ends with something live
- Cache headers: add the right
Cache-Control/ETagheaders to a static asset and verify the cache. - Deployment YAML: write a minimal k8s deployment for your app.
- Pipeline: write a CI config that builds, tests and deploys on push.
- Bucket + queue: lay out a bucket for uploads, and sketch a producer/consumer for a background job.
